Gabriela is the Director for Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS). Originally from the Rocky Mountains, she now calls the Catskill Mountains home. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a focus in Fungal Ecology and a minor in Philosophy. She created the Northern Utah Funga project, is former vice president for Mushroom Society of Utah, and initiated the campaign to designate Porcini (Boletus edulis) as Utah’s state mushroom. She has been featured in media sources like Yes Magazine, Mushroom People, and The Mushroom Hour Podcast. She keeps a journal on Substack called Pulse admirabilis relating to the mysterious aliveness of fungi, their language, conservation, deep imagination, and other exudate. She is inspired what happens to our bodies and imaginations as we engage the fungal kingdom.
