our mission
FUNDIS is dedicated to protecting biodiversity through the conservation of fungi and their habitats. We promote knowledge and public awareness of fungal diversity and distribution. By equipping and engaging community scientists, and partnering with land managers, conservationists, and scientists, we create evidence-based solutions to ensure a thriving environment for fungi and the ecosystems they support.

Our History
On July 14, 2012 professional and amateur mycologists envisioned Fungal Diversity Survey
The dream was to create a complete “Funga” for North America – a comprehensive list of the continent’s fungi, supplemented by maps, images, voucher specimens, and sequences for every single species. Along the way the mission crystallized into a focus for fungal conservation.
